We are situated amidst the rolling Dumfriesshire hills, adjacent to Ellisland Farm, the home of Robert Burns, a quarter of mile off the A76, 6 miles north of Dumfries, 35 miles from Carlisle and 31 miles from the most famous Gretna Green.
Friars Carse is an ideal venue for Wedding parties, functions and meetings, catering for intimate and larger wedding parties of up to 80 guests. We have our own marquee which will cater for a maximum of 150 guests.
The hotel is licensed for Civil Marriages, Civil Partnerships and Naming Ceremonies, in two function suites, the largest accommodating up to a maximum of 80 guests. You may also be married by a minister in the hotel or in our marquee in the hotel grounds. Further celebrations for up to 150 can also be held in the marquee.

Request a Wedding Brochure
To help you choose your venue Friars Carse has a comprehensive Wedding Brochure which you may request through the Wedding Contacts below. We will even include a 2013 Wedding Discount Voucher to be used against the cost of new wedding bookings.
How to Make a Booking
To make a provisional booking you may visit, telephone, fax or email with details of your names, address and telephone number, Civil or Church Wedding and an approximate number of daytime and evening guests.
Once availability has been confirmed the Hotel will place your booking on a provisional hold for 14 days and we will write to confirm the details.
After this time, unconfirmed bookings may be released by the hotel without notice.
To confirm the booking a non-refundable deposit of £1000 is required, along with a signed copy of the hotel’s Booking Terms & Conditions. Once this is received, we will prepare a contract and a running schedule for you.
We strongly urge you to consider insurance cover for your wedding, which we can assist in arranging should you require.
